The passion of Christ is the most important event in the history of mankind. It is most important because through it man becomes eligible for release from the bondage of sin. Before the actuality of the passion of Christ, the Prophet Isaiah wrote that Christ was sent to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound (Isaiah 61:1). What is the passion of Christ? The passion of Christ refers specifically to His suffering and dying on Calvary's cross. The passion of Christ reveals the true purpose for His having become man: The salvation of humankind (of as many as will believe and accept Him). That's the criteria: Believe and accept Jesus Christ. Faith in Him delivers one from Satan's prison and puts one in the kingdom of God (even while the person is alive on Earth). The passion of Christ reveals the reality of the word of God which says, "the wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23). The passion of Christ speaks specifically of His having suffered pain, injury and death for us. He died that we might live evermore. He died that we might have life and have it more abundantly (John 10:10). The passion of Christ is spoken of specifically in Acts chapter one: 3 To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God: (Acts 1:3) The Holy Bible What does the passion of Christ mean to you?
